Things to visit
Six lanes across the city and its region — the waterfront, the salt lakes, the old harbour towns, the empty south, the inland hinterland and the museums. Everything here is within ninety minutes of Burgas.
By the sea
The waterfront the city is built around — garden, bridge, beach and the island offshore.
Sea GardenThe city's front room: a kilometre of shaded paths above the beach. Burgas BridgeA concrete pier walking you straight out over the Black Sea. Central BeachCity sand, right below the park, with the water a minute from the tram of trees. St Anastasia IslandA monastery island in the bay, reached by boat from the port.

Lakes and birds
Burgas sits between three lakes. In May the salt pans turn pink and the migration is in full flow.
Old towns up the coast
Stone harbour towns, a Roman spa and one resort strip, all inside an hour of the city.
NessebarA World Heritage old town on a rock, half an hour up the coast. SozopolThe quieter old harbour town, south of the city.- Sunny BeachThe big resort strip — beds, bars and a long beach, 35 km north.

South to Strandzha
Past Sozopol the coast empties out: river mouths, empty sand and mountain villages, ninety minutes at most.

Where these details come from
We publish no opening hours or admission prices — they change every season. Each place links to the site that does publish them.
Distances and drive times are approximate, measured from the centre of Burgas in normal traffic. Taxi costs are estimates for a metered car, not a fixed tariff. Bus services are the ones published for the summer season — always check the day's timetable.
