Questions
- Is Eurovision 2027 confirmed for Burgas?
- Yes. On 13 August 2026 Bulgarian broadcaster BNT and the EBU announced Burgas as the host city of the Eurovision Song Contest 2027, staged at Arena Burgas. It is the first time the contest is held in Bulgaria, after Dara won the 2026 contest with "Bangaranga".
- What are the official dates?
- Semi-Final 1 on Tuesday 11 May 2027, Semi-Final 2 on Thursday 13 May, and the Grand Final on Saturday 15 May. All three live shows start at 21:00 CEST — that is 22:00 local time in Bulgaria.
- Which venue hosts the shows?
- Arena Burgas, one of Bulgaria's newest indoor arenas. It opened in 2023, holds up to 15,000 people for concerts, sits close to the city centre and is reachable by bus and car.
- Why Burgas and not Sofia?
- Four cities bid: Burgas, Plovdiv, Sofia and Varna. Plovdiv and Varna were eliminated in the first stage, leaving Burgas and Sofia. BNT and the EBU selected Burgas, citing its arena, hotel capacity, transport links and Black Sea setting.
- When do tickets go on sale?
- Not announced yet. Official tickets are only ever sold through the channels the EBU and BNT announce, and we publish no seating or price estimates before then.
- When should I book accommodation?
- Now. Central Burgas hotels sell out within days of a host city announcement. Book refundable rates early. The coast keeps capacity in reserve thanks to Sunny Beach, Nessebar and Sozopol, so you will always find a bed — just maybe 30 minutes out.
- What currency does Bulgaria use?
- The euro. Bulgaria joined the euro area on 1 January 2026 at a fixed rate of €1 = 1.95583 lev, and the lev is no longer in circulation — any guide telling you to withdraw leva is out of date. Cards are accepted almost everywhere; a little cash still helps at markets and small taverns.
- What does a week in Burgas cost?
- Outside event pricing, budget €60–100 per person per day including accommodation, food and local transport. During contest week, room rates can double.
- Is Burgas worth visiting without Eurovision?
- Yes. The Sea Garden, a city beach, flamingo-filled salt lakes, and the old towns of Nessebar and Sozopol within an hour make it one of Europe's most relaxed coastal bases.
