Europe's flooded riverine forest, an hour and twenty north.
Where the Kamchia river reaches the sea it floods a forest of ash and elm — the longoz — and leaves it standing in water for part of the year. It is a UNESCO biosphere reserve, and one of the last forests of its kind on the continent.
Boats go up the river from the beach in season and paths run along the bank. The dunes at the mouth are among the highest on this coast.
