The mountain town at the heart of Strandzha Nature Park.
Malko Tarnovo is the administrative centre of the Strandzha and the base for its park: a small town of stone houses with a historical museum, a nature-park visitor point, and forest roads leading out to Thracian sanctuaries and dolmens.
This is the least touristic corner of south-east Bulgaria. Come for the walking, the springs and the sense of a border country.
