North and inland
Karnobat
The old horse-fair town on the plain, with wine country behind it.
Karnobat has been the market for this plain for centuries and still holds its agricultural fairs. The old town has an Ottoman clock tower and a museum, and the fields around it are vines and wheat.
It is a stop rather than a destination — but it is the gateway to the Sungurlare valley, and the honest inland counterweight to a week on the beach.
